Genesis Four

Eve gave birth to Cain, then Abel. Abel was a shepherd (he kept flocks) while Cain was a farmer (he worked soil).

Cain sacrificed some of his farm crops while Abel sacrificed a fat portion of the firstborn of his flock to God and God looked at Abel's sacrifice with favour. Cain was angry because God did not favour his sacrifice. God saw this and asked Cain why he was angry.

Later, Cain told Abel to let them go to the field and while they were there, he attacked and killed Abel.

God asked of Abel from Cain and Cain asked if he was his brother's keeper. God revealed that Abel's blood had cried unto him from the ground and God cursed Cain. God said the land would no longer yield crops for him and he would be an restless wanderer. Cain said someone would later find him and kill him. Then God said anyone that kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times. Cain lived in the land of Nod; east of Eden.

Cain's wife bore Enoch and Cain named the city he built Enoch.

To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.

Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.

Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock. His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play the harp and flute.

Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah.

Lamech said to his wives, 'I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me. If Cain is avenged seven times, then I seventy-seven times.'

Even gave birth to Seth and said God has given her a replacement for Abel which Cain killed.

4:26 Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD.
